| The Howard Stern Show on Sirius Satellite Radio just celebrated its first year anniversary on Jan. 9th,2007 and what a year it has been. If you don't have Sirius Radio yet, you are missing out big time, no question. Do yourself a favor and join the revolution today. Make 2007 a year of No More Bullshit!! If you are already tuned into the revitalized Howard Stern show then you most likely know that Howard had today's featured Shrine inductee on that anniversary show. And when you think about it, who better than a cowboy to help Howard celebrate this past year as he continues to make his way through the uncharted territory of satellite radio? Why a foul mouthed dirty one of course, who likes to sing about cocks, and pussies, and worthless cunts. I contacted Larry Pierce shortly after that appearance and he came through with an autographed photo of himself and Howard to add to the Shrine tribute. Larry also gave the True Fans of Stern an awesome interview.
Enjoy.
Douchebigelow: Who the hell is Larry Pierce???
Larry Pierce: Who am I? Briefly as I can. I've recorded 13 albums starting in 1993 with Laughing Hyena Entertainment. They only distribute at truck-stops nationwide, so mostly only truck drivers knew who I was until 2003, when a touring band from Colorado Springs (-ITIS) found me and set up a few live appearances with them. About the same time, these filmmakers from New York found me and wanted to do a documentary on my life. Things just kinda suddenly started happening recently after about 10 years of no recognition at all. I was shocked! |
| OneNutWillie: What is your fascination is with being jacked off with a sock? (It was a line in at least two of the songs played on Howard.) |
| Larry Pierce: Jacked off with a sock? I got that several years ago from reading Penthouse forum--about a girl who threw a sock over the guys dick to contain the mess. I thought it was funny as hell, so I used it. |
| Bloodorflies: I'd like to know if, and how much, he has been influenced by David Allen Coe? |
| Larry Pierce: David Allen Coe? I can't say that I was influenced any at all by him. I thought his dirty songs were kinda amateurish. |
Terry Gale: Has he ever done an advertising type animated video clip (ala YouTube)?
What does Larry consider to be his best song? |
| Larry Pierce: Animated video clip? Oh no. My best song? I don't know about being my BEST song, but my favorite song is "Gigolo" from the Greatest Hits album and Dirty Old Man album. |
|
| Lush Rimbaugh: What about Larry's movie, dirtycountrymovie.com? Is production still on schedule for March 2007 release to Film Festivals? It's mid-January and no trailer. |
| Larry Pierce: New Album and Movie? This is my 14th album, and the first with "my" band -ITIS, and my first album on a new label (after 13 previous with Laughing Hyena). I think it's some of the best stuff I've done yet, so I'm kinda excited about it for all those reasons. The movie is on schedule and set to make it's debut in March. Hope it goes over well! And there IS a trailer at www.dirtycountrymovie.com |
| Lush Rimbaugh: Any other Larry Pierce projects to promote? |
| Larry Pierce: Not at this time. |
| Doc: How big is your penis? |
|
| Larry Pierce: I describe that quite at length (excuse the pun) on my song "Nymphomaniac", track 14 on Dirty Old Man. |
| Doc: Why no racial stuff in your music? |
Larry Pierce:I've never even thought about doing any racial or ethnic slurs in my music. I think that sucks.
Doc: Is there anything you would like to say to Howard, his fans, or your fans in this interview? Is there anything you would like to say to Eric the Midget or other people who don't like your music?
Larry Pierce: Only to say that Howard was very cordial and respectful to me, and I appreciated that. The whole cast made me feel at home, and I had a great time! And I'd like to thank all the fans who bought my CDs after the broadcast, and sent me complimentary e-mail comments. I didn't take Eric the Midget's comments too seriously. I just thought it was funny.
Doc: Any chance you will take Artie's suggestion to change your name to Silly Nelson?
Doc: Do you have any final comment Larry.
Larry Pierce: I can't say enough about my newfound band, -ITIS. I've had the time of my life since they started taking me on the road for live shows with them. Until then I'd never even done a live show. I actually had to relearn the words to some of my own songs! Also, it's great to know that THEY are the band on my new CD, instead of just studio musicians--who I never even got to meet. On my other albums, I just came into the studio and sang my part, and the instruments and backup singers were brought in later. Very impersonal, ya know.
Thank you Larry for the great interview and autograph. Thanks also to the True Fans of Stern for their help.
